Port the "classic"/"standard" skin
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Skin:Standard&oldid=4758707

I know the skin is officially no longer supported, but a lot of skins have already been added here, so I would like if this was ported over to the current MediaWiki version and installed.

I really want this skin because, for me, the "nostalgia" skin is too simple, while the "MonoBook" skin is too busy.

If requested, I may be able to help at a later date.

We indeed have lots of skins but all of them are maintained by their developers and compatible with the latest version of MediaWiki. This skin was discontinued almost 20 versions ago. Miraheze does not maintain any skin on its own because the technical burden would be too much and as this skin is completely incompatible with MediaWiki 1.39 and broken, this task is declined. Thank you for your understanding.

I would like to try to do it myself tomorrow, can I reopen it then? ~~~~

This will not be reopened. If you are doing them it does not concern Miraheze and thus this task will remain closed. Only for security review once complete, tested, functional, and 100% maintained will they be considered.

I would also like to note, that for any modern security review to pass, 99% of the entire skin will need rewritten, just working will not pass review if it does not use modern codeing standards/hard to understand or uses to many deprecated functions.

When/if I write the code, where shall I submit it?

It has to be open-source on a GitHub (or another git) repo.
