Add SocialProfile restrictions to ATT + 2 SocialProfile wipes of globally banned users
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SocialProfile#Anti-spam

To prevent spambots from creating a social profile page right after registering, you can set the $wgUserProfileThresholds variable in LocalSettings.php.

In this instance we would want ATT to have restrictions so that the only people allowed to edit SocialProfile fields have 10 edits and be in the confirmed group.

We would also need the following two users to have their profiles wiped, as we can not do it ourselves.

I am not a bureaucrat but am doing this on behalf of the bureaucrat GethN7 and can confirm this is what he wants done.

Can confirm.

Permissions for the "edit profiles' is set to staff by default, need edited for Miraheze equivalents, see SP extension page for more details.

I've done the 10 edits threshold and made editing profiles available to sysops. Not sure for the "and be in the confirmed group." and if that's possible.

This isn't a feature request nor an extension review as SocialProfile is already installed and running - this is just a request to add a new setting to it

Since it concerns something that required staff intervention to clean up as well as needed configuration settings to prevent further abuse by childish spammers, LK and myself submitted things here.

Besides, since any wiki using SP can be abused by any other foolish miscreant to perform similar abuse, it's better to have this reported so there is reference in case other wikis are afflicted by the same troublemaker causing further disruptions.

It's a configuration change/feature request.

I don't know how the "confirmed" thing works, if it does.

Well, as long as it can be restricted so the average spammer can't abuse it I'm happy, and I need those spam profiles flushed if you guys can do so.

@Arcane21 Local sysops should be able to "flush" the profiles now, as I've added the right in commit 8ac978ea5538

Can't remove local profile comments from those spam accounts.

So I guess what I added above doesn't apply for removing comments. I looked and I don't see any other permission that allows you to do so.

Wait, it seems to work, but the Special:EditProfile page remains unlisted.

Void claimed this task.

Looks like things have been cleared up. As a matter of interest editothersprofiles has been a sysop right for the past four months on all wikis using SocialProfile.
