Hotcat acting up on Poser and Daz Free Resources
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Getting reports from other editors that Hotcat has not worked properly since the last MediaWiki upgrade - when editors try to save edits, they get an error. Tried it myself and received the error message "It appears your browser does not support Unicode. It is required to edit pages, so your edit was not saved." Screenshot showing the error on a page with a Unicode name at http://web.ncf.ca/fm536/tempstuff/hotcat-error.png

It's quite likely that the version (of HotCat) you are using is outdated. I'd recommend updating MediaWiki:Gadget-HotCat.js with the most recent version from commons.

Do I have rights/permissions to do that? I thought updating software was a restricted action.

You are bureaucrat, sysop, therefore you can edit the MediaWiki namespace in your wiki.

Updated the wiki's version of Hotcat to the most recent - V2.36 - and the error condition persists.

Either there was a delay in the update taking effect, or somebody else did something - the issue has been resolved.
