This is not really important, but it's a warning in Icinga which we can eliminate.

@John Could an Icinga user be created and then configured in Puppet so that it can access the interface? Or can we configure it to sign in as "guest"?

The correct answer to this is landing pages for misc* servers.

Otherwise you need to define a new check_http check.
