PDFs were displaying on screen using PDFEmbed and opening to view using Media

Neither are working now. This is throughout the wiki. I checked pages that were working previously. This is an example of code that is not opening the PDF any longer.

Please link to a page where this is happening.

MacFan4000 moved this task from Unsorted to MediaWiki on the MacFan4000 board.

I did some testing on this issue. I noticed that when I was browsing in Firefox and wanted to open a pdf from google search results, it wasn't working. If I copied the pdf link to another browser it worked. So I looked at my page in Chrome (I normally use Firefox) and lo and behold the pdf worked with both embed and image.

So it is a firefox issue.

I'll take a look at my Firefox setting and see if there is something that could be causing the issue. I'm suspecting the Ghostery app . I'll have a look.

Michaeldakin claimed this task.

Yep - for some reason my setting in options for PDF had been changed to download. That is a mystery as I certainly didn't change it, so maybe a Firefox update did it. Anyway meant it didn't display in PDFEmbed and it when clicking on [[Media:JRFDaveWatsonmunicipalsocialism.pdf|View PDF]] a download of the file was taking place. This wasn't obvious as the blue download arrow would flicker on probably for one second with a pdf.

Anyway sorted. I have people working on my wiki checking pages and they can't see PDFEmbed results on screen in Chrome. I suspect they have a similar setting that is stopping it working correctly in that browser. I'll close the issue now
