img tags and "MediaWiki:External image whitelist" aren't functioning

Description

I recently used "Special:ManageWikiSettings" to enable HTML img tags and "MediaWiki:External image whitelist" on monarchists.wiki, yet these features aren't functioning.

You need to change https://monarchists.wiki/wiki/MediaWiki:External_image_whitelist (syntax is invalid). Needs to be either:

^static\.miraheze\.org/

or

^https://static\.miraheze\.org/

see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgEnableImageWhitelist

It still won't work, and you obviously haven't done enough research. Please take a look at following:

And more importantly, you should check what "MediaWiki:External_image_whitelist" actually says by default:

Put regular expression fragments (just the part that goes between the //) below

"^" merely denotes the beginning of a string in regex, yet everything I've linked to above indicates that I should be able to use the middle of an URL as well.

Have you even tried getting firsthand experience with this feature yet?

Actually, I reached the conclusion that the 2017 wikitext editor doesn't render hotlinked images in its preview mode. Mea culpa.
