Change database name and URL of animatedfeet.miraheze.org
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

https://animatedfeet.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges?hidebots=1&translations=filter&limit=50&days=7&enhanced=1&urlversion=2 I was requesting about the URL change of the website from animatedfeet.miraheze.org into animefeet.miraheze.org, just to look like its older wiki. I was thinking that so then it would be a shorter URL for the site.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in answering. Please confirm that you still need this before we proceed.

I co-moderate the wiki with DeltaRune and agree this would be a nice change to see (animated > anime) but I will contact him about confirming too.

Before we sign off on this, there was one thing I was curious about...
allthetropes.miraheze.org
redirects to...
allthetropes.org

Do you know how to make a feature like that possible?

@Tycio Yes, that is a custom domain. You can see https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Custom_domains for more information.

With no response I'm closing this task as declined now. If you would still like this please feel free to open the task

Alright, if no one is going to be able to rename the URL of this site, then could you at least enable access to editing the URL so we can rename the URL ourselves.

Or at least change the URL from malesshoeloss.miraheze.org to boysshoeloss.miraheze.org.

@Reception123 wiki founder has confirmed that they want to move on with it ^

No one said that, I just said that there was no response.

To be clear, should I rename:

animatedfeet.miraheze.org into animefeet.miraheze.org

AND

malesshoeloss.miraheze.org to boysshoeloss.miraheze.org.

That's an entirely different wiki, shouldn't that be a separate ticket? I don't even know why that's a separate wiki, male characters are permitted at the animatedfeet wiki already, is it possible to merge them?

I am actually wondering if "DrawnFeet" might be easier than "Anime". It makes it clearer we accept comics/manga and not just japanese anime.

Sure thing although Tycio was really thinking about renaming the URL to Drawnfeet so then it would make sense for his perceptive.

Well it would be great if you could discuss and decide which URLs you would like to be renamed, as this task has been here since October 2019 and we still don't have a clear indication or consensus on what change you would like to be made.

I've asked Delta at https://animatedfeet.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:DeltaRuneFan2001#URL if he could respond if he agrees, because I would be very much on board for Drawnfeet.Miraheze.org as the new URL

Would the old one still redirect to it? I'd like if we could redirect "animefeet" to it too since that was our old wikia URL.

"comicfeet" and "toonfeet" and "cartoonfeet" could be decent redirects for good measure if that wouldn't be complicated.

In that case, having AnimatedFeet / AnimeFeet redirecting to DrawnFeet is preferable.

@Tycio

So you would like drawnfeet.miraheze.org as your main wiki, with animefeet.miraheze.org and animatedfeet.miraheze.org redirecting to it?

@Tycio I am very sorry for the delay. Just to make sure, is it fine if I make the change now?

No response in almost two weeks. I apologize for how many replies this task has had and how there was no response in that much time. We have now improved our handling of Phabricator and this should not happen again.

If you still need this please reopen this task and please give us a clear confirmation of all the changes that you need (including if you would need redirects from your old URLs to your new ones)

Why did you close it, it hasn't even been completed yet. I'm planning on reopening this failed/rejected task. And yes you can make the change now.

DeltaRuneFan2001 changed the task status from Stalled to Open.

All the changes have really been confusing, so I will need you to again be specific with what you want to be renamed to what and what redirects you need

drawnfeet.miraheze.org as your main wik
animefeet.miraheze.org and animatedfeet.miraheze.org redirecting to it

Unknown Object (User) moved this task from Radar to Trivial Puppet Change on the Site Reliability Engineering board.
Reception123 added a subscriber: Unknown Object (User).

@Universal_Omega This isn't done in Puppet, it's a Database change and then redirects are done via SSL.

I am wondering if I could get in contact with Agent_Isae here?

Luckily your username was in my history so I remembered who it was that contacted me and who I replied to.

i tried to leave a section at https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:Agent_Isai but it won't let me because it asks me to solve some CAPTCHA but no image appears for me to type in.

I also am not able to even load https://drawnfeet.miraheze.org/wiki/User_talk:Agent_Isai because I get this error:

You do not have permission to read this page, for the following reason:
The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: ,

No groups are listed, it is just a comma.
There was also something about it being restricted to admin editing, but I'm the top-ranked and can't view it.

I'm wondering if this is something to do with custom user groups I did and if there is way to fix it so I can view?

Was trying to cooperate with a warning given by putting a "fair dealing" disclaimer in the left sidebar but I can't correspond further until permissions for page-reading are restored to me in some way.

If the intent is to restrict most users from viewing I'm wondering if at least and my 2nd-in-command (founder DeltaRune) could be given access so we could collaborate in updating it.

The first issue is due to DisplayTitle being enabled. I will disable it for you. The second issue might be due to login, please log out and log back in as you should be able to view the wiki just fine. For further inquiries, please email me at agent[at]miraheze[dot]org as commenting here sends an email notification for a 2 year old thread to 10+ people, many of which are no longer affiliated with the project. Thanks

Isai I had made a request if we could just set it so images don't display or even to delete all images as a last-resort alternative to deleting the entire thing, so that we could at least retain records for the text and source code and rebuild the images from scratch w/ mandatory disclaimer prompts.

It seems it got deleted now but is there some way we can at least revive the source code of the articles and just disable images?

Once again, this pings dozens of people. I will send you a Meta talk page message.
