Hi

Firstly, this wiki and phabricator at mirahaze is some great work. very impressed.
This is suiting the needs of the cause im working on.

So 2 requests

  1. I would like to know if there is a facility to backup the content of the wiki we hosting with you and this would be great to run a regular backup in an automated way. Do you have any suggestions. I found that the export special page works great, we want to keep the content live on the wiki but would like to make sure it is not lost in case of un forseen circumstances.

I would like to change the logo on the wiki, how do I go about doing this?

Hi, Miraheze uses a service known as Backupsy to create backups. You can also use Special:Export, like you said, to create a personal backup of your wiki. Please remember though that using Special:Export will only copy page content and histories, and will not actually save images or user data.

As for changing your wiki's logo please upload the image to your wiki and then leave a link to the image here.

Thanks for such a quick response.
I wanted to ask if the backup mentioned in earlier comments - is it only a paid service? I have not been able to find exact costings - I will continue to look, just wanted to check if you know off hand?

Hi,

I've created a pull request that will set the new logo on your wiki. Please remember it may take a couple hours to show up.

As for the backups I would suggest speaking with @John, he'll be able to explain to you how Miraheze's backups system works better than I can.

Now for backups there seems to be a bit of underlining confusion with what Corey originally stated. We don't use Backupsy to generate backups, we use them as a hosting service to host them. Backups are generated internally by using Bacula which takes filesystem snapshots automatically for us to use.

We currently don't provide any automated public back up methods and currently don't intend to but we can provide XML content dumps on request but this is not regular, it must be done by getting the attention of someone with access to the MediaWiki server to do them.

as for backups, yes I would like to get an XML content dump - I have put a lot of content in place already.

Is there a way I can just run a script to do it my self - my aim is to backup all content every month or so and if I can create an automatic tool to assist that would be great.
