Custom domain request
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Wiki URL: https://phereon.miraheze.org/

Your custom domain: www.portalsofphereon.com EDIT: And "portalsofphereon.com"

Do you want Let's Encrypt: Yes

I've changed the name servers for the domain to "ns1.miraheze.org" and "ns2.miraheze.org"

Event Timeline

A quick note that the name servers seem to have updated now. Unlike when I made this request, going to the domain now takes you to the miraheze home page.

Reception123 claimed this task.

Yes, that's because I added them to our configuration :)

Your request is now done and you can access your wiki with your custom domain now.

Thank you for the help!
However, there's a bit of a problem. The custom domain only works with "www." in the URL. Could this be changed so it redirects just "portalsofphereon.com" as well?
I can't fix it on my end since I changed the name servers to Miraheze's.

Okay, your initial request was only www.

Which one would you like to be your main domain? The www I'd the one without?

The one with www should be the main one I think.

And I'm sorry for the initial request. I know next to nothing about networks, so I just kind of assumed that not using a subdomain would default it to www or something along those lines. Clearly this is not always the case.

This is just a shot in the dark, but is it possible to switch between the name server and CNAME entry methods without any further configuration from miraheze? (as listed in https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Custom_domains)

If the answer is a yes, then I could handle that last request on my own. If not, just disregard this I suppose.

The configuration does need to be changed from our side, but there is no problem if you change the method. Please let us know if you intend to do so.

Well, either way is fine with me. Just go with whatever is easiest for you guys =)

@Olaroll Would you still want to change to the CNAME method?

As everything seems to be working alright, I don't see much of a reason to switch at the moment.

Although going to portalsofphereon.com does trigger a certificate warning. Is this something that can be fixed on miraheze's end?

If possible, I'd also like to be able to access the google search console through DNS verification. Could the verification be handled by miraheze or is it easier to switch to the CNAME method at that point?

@Olaroll Sorry for the delay. Yes, the DNS verification is possible. Please send the text and we will add it.

Here it is

google-site-verification=07tDAfwRr6KvnZRzcIdMCm7dfyJm9pOSRVMpxPxZxqM

@Olaroll Added! Please let us know if it works

Thank you, it's working great!
