Make links clickable in ManageWiki
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In e.g., ManageWiki/settings#mw-section-styling there are links, e.g.,

This will replace Miraheze's default logo. See https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/ManageWiki#How_do_I_change_my_logo.2Ffavicon.3F for how you can change it.

However they are not clickable.
They need to be made clickable.

Have a look, https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/settings#mw-section-styling .

@Jidanni sorry for the non-response since December. Is this still an issue for you?

(Note: sometimes triaging as low priority will cause tasks to be missed... any bug reports should be "normal" priority)

Yes.
The current way to see what I am talking about is:

  1. Browse https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/settings
  2. Click "Styling"

@Jidanni I don't think that those links have ever been "clickable" if you don't have permission to actually manage the wiki settings... if you are accessing Special:ManageWiki despite not having managewiki rights (and therefore are in view-only mode), you will need to copy and paste the URL directly into your web browser.

I am not sure if the links are clickable or not if you do actually have permission to manage the wiki settings.

Thanks, but making them clickable has nothing to do with security or what rights one has when viewing the page. It's the same problem if you are the wiki owner or not. They should simply be wrapped in <a href...>'s .

Hmm... I'm not sure exactly what's going on then @John @Paladox?

Hmm... I'm not sure exactly what's going on then @John @Paladox?

My question is whether this can be done with the current setup. If so, I'd be glad to make the change for all the links if I am told how to do so.

P.S., one also notices raw

Metrolook Bartile
When "Metrolook Down Arrow" is enabled and "Metrolook Bartile" is enabled, the tile menu will be generated from [[MediaWiki:Metrolook-tiles]]. If "Metrolook Down Arrow" is not set and "Metrolook Bartile" is not set, then the tile menu will be generated from [[MediaWiki:Metrolook-tiles-second]].

I will try to look into this and make the links clickable

Links added to ManageWiki/settings.

As for the Metrolook setting you mention, it's not currently possible to do that with HTML since each wiki has it's own domain so a general link could not work.

Just use https://{{SERVERNAME}}/pagename or #External_links_to_internal_pages , both mentioned on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Links .

That would not work with HTML as far as I know

I was wrong, John has told me which was this can be done. I will take care of it.
