there probably is a Mirhaeze bug in that it doesn't automatically run flowCreateTemplates.php

I don't see how this prevents you from doing anything; you could create the templates that this script would create manually.

You've run into https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T125857 (Flow boards don't respond to template updates unless they are edited). I've fixed the problem by making a dummy edit to the board header and then reverting that edit, and it does now appear to include a link a a wikitext archive.

OK, I have converted half of my Talk pages, but can't figure out ( https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T251717 ) a better way to finish the job other than one by one pasting their names into that Special:EnableStructuredDiscussions box and clicking Submit. After which I also need to run it on all my User Talk pages. Anybody got a better way? Thanks.

Yes, this has been possible since May 2019 using a mwscript option inside install
