Medik skin
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hey, it's me again! While I requested Chameleon for a new review, some people working with me on this wiki (my main wiki) requested the Medik Skin, it looks more like a wiki and it matches with our blog layout and other stuff.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Skin:Medik

And also, please enable the following settings:

$wgMedikShowLogo = 'main'; // logo appear on the topbar, not sure if I will stick with that because it's only 28x28, but I will make another minor task if I don't like it
$wgMedikContentWidth = 'full';    // main content of col-xl-10 instead of col-xl-9
$wgMedikColor = '#ca0019'; // change main color to #ca0019

Update 2020-07-28: I contacted Slepi (creator of the skin) with a suggestion about adding the larger main content and logo (both on sidebar and topbar), and they already replied and updated the skin with the new settings. :)

Minor update (2020-08-25): I haven't noticed I could modify the colour with a LocalSettings rather than the core CSS. Also added a minor grammar correction and info about the logo.

Event Timeline

The stable version of the Skin has been updated very recently (within the past 2 weeks, in fact), so it passes the first basic checkbox of review. However, this will still need a more thorough security review, as with all new extensions and skins.

Oh, and just one more thing
below the main content commentary on the code, please change col-xl-9 to col-xl-10

<!-- main content -->
<div class="col-12 col-md-9 col-xl-10 py-md-3 pl-md-5">
...

it will make the main content space slightly larger

and also, I know this might be annoying, but I really want to get back working on my wiki again with this skin, but the review process has been very slow recently. Is there any way I can help with this? I really would like to speed up requests processes, if possible

@Lakelimbo any CSS changes you can make yourself (assuming you are a sysop/interface admin) by editing MediaWiki:Common.css on the wiki. In terms of the status of the skin review, you are correct that the review process is very slow. Unfortunately, we currently only have two people qualified to do extension reviews (@Southparkfan and @Samwilson), and both of them are very busy. As such, extension/skin reviews do tend to take a long time.

yes, I just wanted these specific settings to be applied on the skin CSS file itself, so it wouldn't break things, like when logging in (i.e the logo is >900x700px, if I set up a width on Medik.css/Common.css, the logo will be shown in full size).
.
And that's sad, I wish I could help with something :(
But if there's something I can help (not just with this), I'm available all day (mostly on Discord).

Made a small update on the task description (again) because the skin was updated recently with some settings I requested.

The codebase is clean, not super complex, and provides all necessary functionality for MediaWiki to run with. No issues.

Installed. You can now enable this on your wiki by going to Special:ManageWiki/extensions in the "Skin" section.

I have also submitted a pull request for your requested configuration.
