Comments option to remove ability to downvote doesn't work
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

On Awful Movies Wiki (awfulmovies.miraheze.org) and probably on all my other wikis too the code for removing the ability to downvote comments doesn't actually work. It initially seems that you can only upvote a comment but after you upvote you are still able to downvote the comment. Can this be fixed so that downvotes are impossible to do?

Reception123 added a project: Extensions.

I'd recommend checking out https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Comments, clicking on "bug reports" in the infobox, and filing an upstream task. Add the User-RhinosF1 project and move it on the workboard to "Miraheze Linked"

Redmin claimed this task.

Hello, you can change this by using <comments voting="Plus" /> instead of <comments />. If that does not work, please reopen this. Thank you!

Please file an upstream task, following the instructions at https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T6781#133435. Thanks

And also try that first, too.

. Why would this need an upstream task?

Re-adding Upstream project as it's likely an upstream task, if the above on-wiki configuration doesn't resolve it.

If the on-wiki configuration doesn't resolve it, then it would need a feature request implemented in the extension. But yeah, they should try your suggestion first

Oh, okay.

Thanks but as I said in my first post I already tried that but it doesn't actually work; I am currently following the instructions to report a bug on MediaWiki.

Could you please link a page that is already using the above mentioned formatting?

This one is the only page where I tried it

I am afraid that it looks like an upstream bug. Please make a task on Wikimedia Phabricator. Thank you.

How do I send an upstream task there? Do I simply add the Upstream tag to the task?

@Masson_Thief If you go to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Comments, then click on "report a bug," that'll transfer you to Wikimedia Phabricator. Create a detailed task describing the problem, the functionality that's desired, and, if possible, how you envision this being implemented. You can add the project User-RhinosF1 to the upstream task, then select "move on workboard," and move it to the "Miraheze Linked" column. Feel free to add me as a subscriber (@Dmehus). Hope that helps

Alright thanks, I filed the task and hope I got everything right.
