Single Edit Tab for espiralwiki and spiralwiki
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

espiralwiki and spiralwiki currently offer wikitext mode by default, both for editing and discussion pages. It would be much better if visual editor was the default editor wherever available.

Please enable VisualEditor's Single Edit Tab, defaulting to VisualEditor for all users (logged in and anonymous).

(If it is OK to reuse this task, please also enable the visual editor mode by default in Flow, for all users).

Changed the first. I'm not sure for the second so I will open a pull request.

VisualEditor mode is already enabled by default in Flow

Sorry, but this doesn't look resolved.

Single Edit Tab: there are still "[ modifica | modifica el codi]" links everywhere, which means that SET configuration is not deployed.

VE mode in Flow: open a private window to assure that you access with a fresh session as anonymous, go to https://espiral.org/wiki/Discussi%C3%B3:L'estrat%C3%A8gia_espiral and reply to the existing Flow thread. A wikitext window is offered, not the VE one.

I am very sorry. I will check this out, however as you can see the code is set for SingleEdit tab (https://github.com/miraheze/mw-config/blob/master/LocalSettings.php#L3019)

The flow thing was my mistake, and should work now.

Solved with the help of @John and @NDKilla

The Flow problem has been solved. Thank you!

SET is in place, yay!

Anonymous users get the wikitext option by default, both for editing existing pages and creating new ones. Please configure the wiki so they get VE by default.

Logged-in users seem to get VE by default, but I am not sure because maybe I already chose this option previously with my own username. I might create a dummy username just to test.

Reopening, with the hope that you won't hate me. :)

@Icaria36 anonymous users have VE disabled by default and this is the default option for VE installs. This can be changed though

@Reception123

Yes, I am asking for VE by default also to anonymous users, if possible.

The objective is very basic: visual editor is offered to all users by default, no wikitext editor is offered to anyone unless they request for it.

I tried several times and it goes directly to VisualEditor for me (without being logged in). If there are still issues please reopen the task.

Although I disagreed with this earlier and should have reopened it, this actually works now.
I'm assuming reception probably VE-switched once, and 'remember last editor' works as intended.

https://git.io/via17 makes VE the default editor (for real) when the option is set.

Yes, this works as expected now. Thank you very much!
