Please specify --username-prefix="wikia:cancelled-movies" so that the external wiki's contribution links link to the source wiki, should may help to provide attribution for the purposes of CreativeCommons licensing. Additionally, @MarioMario456, I would strongly recommend you add an edit summary to edit each imported page, unless the Fandom wiki is being closed and made inactive following the import.

The prefix should be "wikia:cancelled-movies".

The edit summary should be "Importing from Wikia/Fandom", and the prefix should be "wikia".

Copying from discussion on IRC, we can definitely set the --username-prefix="wikia:cancelled-movies" for you, per this request; however, I'm not aware of a parameter in the importDump.php maintenance script to specify the edit summary, so you will likely need to do that part manually to every page, to ensure you're 100% compliant with CreativeCommons licensing.

Due to the fact that there's 5503, it seems quite unlikely that someone would manually add that part to every page. To be safe, I think it would be best to import the full revisions.

So, I'll just make a big blog post explaining how this fork is different from the Wikia version, and how to restore comments, images and videos. Then I link the blog post via sitenotice.

There's only 659 articles (pages on mainspace), it should be done in a few weeks or months. "5503 total pages" are the pages on every namespace.

Except the problem is the edit summary is absolutely critical is it links to the source page; without that, we'd have the links to the contributors' user pages on the Fandom wiki, which would likely help substantially, but I'm not certain whether it would be fully compliant.

I think the import should begin with the prefix "wikia:cancelled-movies". It might not be 100% compliant with CC-BY-SA 3.0 (Wikia's license), but that won't matter, as I'll put information regarding imported edits on the Main Page.

@MarioMario456: Hi, Please don't assign tasks to people unless they've agreed to do it. Any Sysadmin can do your task. Also, please watch how you word sentences as that sounds demanding.

Okay. I have also reworded the reply.

https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki/blob/REL1_35/maintenance/importDump.php#L99 The username-prefix parameter can always be used to attribute the Fandom wiki editors.

Yes I know. Read my reply, you can see that my suggested prefix currently is "wikia:cancelled-movies".

Stop making any more discussion and just import already.

You have already been reminded, but I would just like to insist on the fact that we are all volunteers here and we also have real life commitments, so we aren't able to answer straight away. Please do be patient and polite.

Regarding "Stop making any more discussion and just import already." that is not possible, as unless a link for attribution is made individually (a sitenotice won't work) or full revisions are imported it will not be compliant. I propose we simply import the full revisions, I'm not sure why that would be an issue for you.

That seems like a good idea. Do it.
