Untick 'Use legacy vector' in Special:Prefrences under Apperance. You'll see just the text Meta appear.
@RhinosF1 Try on https://meta.wikimedia.org, you'll get the same result. There's a logo on EnWiki and MW.org but not their Meta
Reading Web made a farce of the rollout. Very few wikis actually work. https://github.com/wikimedia/operations-mediawiki-config/blob/fbaba2a5f68f09213da81b7192879e0af4232eab/wmf-config/InitialiseSettings.php#L608
Not sure but to me it seems to be related to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgLogos: "The wordmark should be a landscape logo, with maximum set width or height, as these are specified under the width and height keys. Typically this is the graphic version of $wgSitename. This is used Skin:Vector (1.36)"
I don't really think this needs to be high prio as wikis will have to just set them by themselves if they want to use Modern vector.
I don't think it's high for all wikis but it should be for the important wikis. (Meta, test, login).
Well that's still a bit debatable as I don't honestly think many people currently use Modern Vector. Who do you think would be good at designing the wordmark version? It should just be our logo but smaller and the names of each wiki next to it.
Note: the docs inconsistently make out it might be default in 1.36
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T245190 is the guidelines for how to update everything.
It's possible to use wgVectorDefaultSkinVersion = '1'; in order to make legacy the default. Since that's possible plus I quite doubt many people currently have Modern Vector, I don't think this needs high prio.
I agree with @Reception123; this should be normal or, ideally, low priority, but I'm not even sure what the issue is. What's wrong with the existing Miraheze and MediaWiki chiclet logos in the footer?
We should set Legacy Vector as the default global skin in MW 1.36. New Vector is terrible and a huge UI change for users; we don't want to be too jarring to users.
@Reception123 Yes, :thistbh: is what I meant by https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T7252#144070. Even Wikimedia does this on many wikis.
@Reception123 Should we close this task as resolved then, since it's essentially done? Feel free to reopen if not.
This shouldn't need a Phabricator task. We should be adding these configs to ManageWiki, if they're not already in ManageWiki, then any Steward and TestWiki Consul, respectively, can update the wordmarks.
