Custom domains request and enable VisualEditor on electrowiki.miraheze.org
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Wiki URLelectrowiki.miraheze.org

I just registred my domain (is electrowiki.org) and I configured cname of all subdomains to mw-lb.miraheze.org.
I didn't want to use a my own certificate so you could ask one from let's encrypt for me?

Also how about emails? I have to configure any spf to allow sending mail from my domain?

From the ParserHooks section, I am not sure what it is called in your language though.

Thank you very much! I solved this!

@DrGremi For setting up e-mail for your domain, I'd recommend reading instructions from your domain registrar / DNS provider on setting up MX, SPF, and TXT records. Hope that helps.

@Reception123 I think the user said they pointed all their subdomains to mw-lb.miraheze.org, so they'd redirect. Don't we do wildcard certs by default? If not, how come?

@DrGremi Instead of potentially having to redo your cert as a wildcard certificate, what you might consider doing is changing all your other subdomains from CNAME records to 301 web redirects to https://electrowiki.org/wiki/. In practical terms, there wouldn't be too much difference, though individual page names on a redirected subdomain may not redirect to the target page, they should redirect to the base domain. :)

@Dmehus You are right but I realized (too late) that google domain (I used to register this domain because I already have other domains registred on in) doesn't support cname on main domain... So I set an A record pointing to the IP pointed by mw-lb.miraheze.org and this is bad (you know it better than me).

Considered I created this domain for this wiki project I don't mind to use it for other proposes, so i thought the easiest solution was to change the nameserver to yours "ns1.miraheze.org" and "ns2.miraheze.org".

For the MX, SPF, and TXT thank you, but I only wanted to know if you need a particular configurations (if you send emails from the costum domains, if you send emails form miraheze.org I don't have to do anything).

I can set a 301 from my domain register but I have the problem of the unsupported cname.

Instead asking a wildcard certificate can't you ask only for the extra www.electrowiki.org certificate? As a way if it is not possibile the project has just started, so a downtime isn't a problem :)

P.S. This task was marked as solved. It was reopen as a merge of this (https://phabricator.miraheze.org/T7354) I opened yesterday? I am sorry but I am not very familiar with phabricator. I just want to be sure I don't have created a cross post.
And I am sorry for being a pain in the ass, I really appreciate your help (and if it doesn't seem in my post is just because I am not a native English speaker).
