A suggestion for a default global extension for the Miraheze farm
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:NativeSvgHandler

This extension would be useful as a fallback, if, for any reason, the SVG rendering backend software fails, this will provide SVG rendering support via the browser of the users instead, a feature all modern browsers released over the past 15 years should support. It has no security risks, can be removed safely at any time, and is merely recommended as a failsafe extension in case of backend SVG failure for any reason.

We used to have this installed globally (before my time) and it seems like it was removed due to some issues with it.

According to upstream, the bug in T1404 appears to still be present. Enabling this extension globally is therefore very likely to cause rendering inconsistencies in VisualEditor.

That I did not know. Guess this should be tabled until that changes then.
