Description

"The HitCounters extension displays the view count in the page footer and the most viewed pages on a special page called PopularPages. The extension provides page views statistics that were removed in MediaWiki 1.25." - https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:HitCounters

We need this extension to see the number of page views. There is also PageViewInfo, which is used by the Wikimedia foundation wikis.

In response to your message on my talk page, I declined it because the extension doesn't work to be installed as mentioned in the above task.

In addition the extension has what seems to me like would be performance issues that would leave me to decline it regardless.
