Rationale for access: He has gone the extra mile to try and debug and I think him having root access on the MW servers will greatly help with debugging things MW related. Example of where this would be useful: T7801.
Having someone else with root access on the MW team would greatly assist them I think.
Although this is an SRE thing, I’d like to say that I’d definitely support it, if I were an SRE member.
@Universal_Omega has worked hard and has investigated issues for a long time. If root will assist him further by having access to more logs, I'm not opposed.
@Universal_Omega has shown himself to be cautious, and I can see this modest level of additional access being useful to him, particularly with regard to rebooting the MediaWiki servers as part of debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving MediaWiki servers related to the same.
Given @Reception123 has already approved this request, it is now just pending on myself.
Therefore, I give my approval and will follow up shortly with the relevant changes to puppet.
