Continue investigating 502s, 503s and intermittent slow load times
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

While 502s, 503s and load speeds have improved a lot after the gluster migration and for me at least don't pose much of a problem, I have noticed that some users have complained that they still do occur for them at some points. I did get a 502 myself one of these days.

A lot of work has already been done and as I said things are largely improved but even more needs to be done as this is clearly the most important issue for users (as demonstrated by the survey and discussions).

@Paladox Universal Omega says that this is unlikely to get better before the Swift migration. Do you have a timeframe in mind for when that would happen?

(-Infra as tasks shouldn’t be dual tagged for responsibility)

The current timeline we’re working to is nothing can be done until the physical work is done by Owen next weekend and then we’d probably be looking at mid November before everything is over to Swift I’d say as the maximum timeline.

FYI:

When reporting this, please be sure to provide the information below.

Error 503 Backend fetch failed, forwarded for 193.116.81.104, 127.0.0.1
(Varnish XID 29098109) via cp31 at Tue, 06 Sep 2022 14:23:52 GMT.

Will confirm that I randomly got a 503 while saving a change.

Not to mention the numerous slowdowns.

This should be exponentially better now. If issues continue, this task will be reopened. We deeply apologise for all the issues that has occurred over the past weeks/months.
