As of this writing, thesimswiki.com should be updated by now; TTL is 120 seconds so it should propagate quickly.

Good morning. It would seem that a CNAME for the domain apex, or no sub-domain isn't possible, according to RFC1034, Section 3.6.2.

Are you sure you don't mean https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Custom_domains ? The previous link that you posted, leads to a non-existent page.
